Mother of a fallen child supports Todd Blanche for Attorney General during Senate Judiciary hearing

Illinois Mom Shares Experience with Attorney General Nominee

An Illinois mother, who suffered the loss of her daughter last year to a tragic incident involving an undocumented immigrant, has opened up about her discussions with President Trump’s nominee for Attorney General. She conveyed to Fox News Digital why she believes he’s the right person for the role.

“From the start, I felt drawn to him,” Jennifer Boss said of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “I take energy from people, and he’s genuinely kind… He listened with such focus that I could sense he was contemplating, ‘What steps can we take from here?’”

Boss’s daughter, Megan, was only 37 when her lifeless body was discovered in a trash container, soaked in bleach, in April 2026, 51 days after she went missing. Luis Mendoza Gonzalez, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, faces multiple felony charges related to Megan’s death, found on his property.

Mendoza Gonzalez is charged with abuse of a corpse, concealment of a death, and obstruction of justice. He has claimed that Megan overdosed and that he was uninvolved in her death.

Under Illinois’ sanctuary policies, Mendoza Gonzalez was initially released following a hearing, an action that infuriated Jennifer. He was later apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Indiana in July 2026. Shortly after, she shared her heart-wrenching story with Trump as they passed each other during the signing of an anti-fentanyl bill.

Now, Jennifer and her husband are raising their daughter, Megan, who was just five years old when her mother passed away.

Jennifer noted that while there’s little Blanche can do for her family now, he’s likely aware of the struggles faced by families like hers across the globe.

“We’re aiming to make a difference for people who haven’t been through this level of tragedy and violence caused by undocumented immigrants,” Jennifer stated.

She believes Blanche, appointed after the dismissal of Pam Bondi, is “honest and dedicated to the responsibilities that come with the position.”

“I trust that he’s acting for the right reasons,” she added.

Her testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee came just after its Democratic members attempted to undermine Blanche’s credibility, portraying him as simply a yes-man for President Trump.

Jennifer expressed that Democrats seem indifferent to the families, including hers, forever altered by the violence of undocumented immigrants. She hadn’t engaged with any committee Democrats before her testimony.

“Before Trump was in office, angel families were often seen as an inconvenient truth,” she reflected. “They wouldn’t acknowledge the dangers posed by open borders and the entry of undocumented individuals who are untraceable.”

She described Republicans and independents as welcoming, mentioning that they generally support Angel families in sharing their stories.

Jennifer confronted Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) during the recent hearing. “Hearing my own senator apologize directly to me was disheartening since he never reached out or acknowledged my experience during all this time,” Jennifer shared.

She emphasized that illegal immigrant crime transcends political views. It could impact anyone, regardless of their ideology. This lack of bipartisan collaboration to tackle the issue is disappointing to her, she noted.

After the hearing, Durbin reached out to discuss potential future collaboration, which she expressed hope for.

At the hearing, Jennifer asserted that Blanche was genuinely paying attention to Angel families and acknowledged their struggles.

“I’m urging the committee not to wait until another mother stands where I am; Todd Blanche confirmed,” she remarked. “He’s a leader committed to upholding the law, honoring victims, confronting criminal organizations, and working to ensure safety and protection for American families that came too late for me.”

“I couldn’t save my daughter. But Todd Blanche, as Attorney General, might save yours. Because it could very well impact your family next,” she concluded.
