Mother of Woman Reportedly Killed Starts Petition to Remove Progressive Prosecutor

The mother of a woman, who was reportedly killed by an undocumented immigrant, is actively seeking signatures to recall the progressive prosecutor who repeatedly freed the suspect.

Cheryl Minter, mother of the late Stephanie Minter, is petitioning to remove Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano. She’s particularly frustrated that her daughter’s accused murderer, an illegal alien from Sierra Leone known as Abdul Jalloh, had a lengthy history of arrests and violent crimes before he violently stabbed Minter to death at a bus stop.

Despite Jalloh’s extensive criminal background, Descano “let him walk.” Eventually, Jalloh was apprehended and charged with second-degree murder concerning the stabbing incident in 2026. (RELATED: Illegal Alien With Lengthy Arrest Record Allegedly Butchers Woman At Virginia Bus Stop)

“Thirty times the system had a chance to stop him,” reads Minter’s petition reads. “Thirty times. I think about that every single day. This was not an unavoidable tragedy. It was the predictable consequence of decisions made by Descano.”

“Stephanie’s case is not an isolated failure,” the petition continues. “Under Descano’s leadership, Fairfax County has repeatedly seen dangerous offenders released, despite serious charges and lengthy criminal histories, while public safety took a back seat.”

On February 23, 2026, Minter was found at a bus stop in Fairfax, Virginia, suffering from multiple stab wounds. First responders tried to save her, but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement linked Jalloh to the crime since he was the last person seen with Minter as they exited the bus. The day after the murder, Jalloh was arrested for alleged theft and subsequently faced additional charges related to Minter’s murder. Jalloh had accumulated over 30 prior arrests and faced numerous charges, including rape, assault, and multiple counts of malicious wounding.

“Stephanie cannot speak for herself anymore. So I am,” the petition states. “Please sign this petition and demand that Steve Descano be removed from office. No family should endure what mine has gone through.”
