Birthday Bash Costs a Pretty Penny
It’s her choice how she celebrates, and she doesn’t hold back. A British woman recently spent close to $5,000 on her daughter’s birthday party.
With rising costs everywhere, throwing a 5th birthday party can feel overwhelming, to say the least. You could definitely do it on a budget, but it seems Charlotte Bostic went in the opposite direction for her daughter, Layla.
As a professional party planner, Bostic certainly went all out for Layla’s memorable birthday bash last summer.
“Layla has autism and verbal delays, which makes speaking difficult for her,” Bosick explained. “For her fifth birthday, I really wanted to create a special day since she achieved so much this past year.”
The 30-year-old mom crafted an unforgettable celebration featuring vibrant decorations, entertainers, a dance floor, food trucks, ball pits, and bouncy castles. It was quite the scene, as you might imagine.
It sounds like there was no shortage of fun either. “I’ve always been a ‘childless’ mom, so I invited around 60 to 70 kids,” she recounted.
The total cost for this extravagant party reached $4,740.40, which probably included a special gift for the birthday girl.
While Bostic’s spending might raise some eyebrows, she’s not entirely alone. Many parents are now sending out gift registries for their children’s birthday celebrations.
In fact, one overwhelmed mom shared her experience of receiving an invitation that included a QR code directing guests to a gift list for the birthday child.
“We scanned the catalog and saw a £250 Barbie Dreamhouse and a Barbie camper for over £50,” she detailed.
Her initial reaction? Shock followed quickly by anger.
The mom ended up choosing the least expensive item on the list. It seemed a bit extravagant for a 7-year-old, but she managed to find something within her budget. “I picked a Marc Jacobs perfume bottle, around $32. It was nice to wrap it up and have my daughter give it to her friend.”
