Milwaukee Woman Arrested After Disturbing Discovery

A woman from Milwaukee has undergone a mental health evaluation following her arrest, which stems from a shocking find made by Wisconsin State Police in her apartment.

Authorities responded to reports of a foul odor near North 27th Avenue and State Street. When questioned, Shyanna Brothers, 28, suggested the smell originated from spoiled food. Shortly after, police discovered cardboard boxes in a locked room.

According to police reports, a large box was infested with flies, and the decomposed remains of a baby were found inside. The room itself was barren, with no furniture except for an air mattress and a TV nearby.

Investigators confirmed the deceased child to be Brothers’ 10-month-old baby. An autopsy later indicated that the baby had sustained a skull fracture due to blunt force trauma.

Brothers claimed that her ex-boyfriend was responsible for the child’s death and had pressured her to conceal the body. However, authorities found no credible evidence linking him to the location.

Interestingly, during an interview, Brothers made an unusual remark, indicating confusion about the blame. She stated, “He’s going to prison for this. He thinks he’s a genius. It might look like me, but I’m going to be exonerated.”

A neighbor, choosing to remain anonymous, recounted a prior encounter with Brothers, expressing concern. “I saw her here once. She seemed overwhelmed, saying it was so filthy in her home she couldn’t even enter,” she noted.

She mentioned that Brothers’ brother had been frequently seen hanging around outside the apartment lately, which raised her alarms. She added, “I have kids of my own. There’s a lot of support available here in Milwaukee, so for mothers in need, there are resources to help. Kids deserve safety.”

The report also referenced a brother in Florida, who was unaware of the child’s existence and had lost touch with Brothers for several years.

Currently, she is being held on a $50,000 bond, with the results of her mental health assessment expected in about a month.
