A woman from Pennsylvania is accused of murdering her 3-year-old son and her husband at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains. After the incident, she allegedly called 911 seeking help to end her own life.
Law enforcement received a call at about 3:13 p.m. last Monday regarding a “distressed female” at the resort, as reported by the Pocono Township Police Department.
‘Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife.’
The woman, identified as Metallica Rose Harrison, told the dispatcher she needed assistance in committing suicide, according to the statement from police.
NBC News obtained the criminal complaint, which mentioned that Detective Earl Ackerman noted that Harrison was requesting help to “find the vein in her neck to stab” while trying to take her own life.
Upon arrival, police found an adult male and a 3-year-old child deceased in a room; they were later confirmed to be her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, whose name hasn’t been disclosed.
In the affidavit obtained by People magazine, Harrison stated to the dispatcher that she had knives and mentioned, “my husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room.”
“They’re already gone, I’m sorry,” the 27-year-old said during the call.
The affidavit also indicated that Charles Harris had multiple stab wounds to his chest, while their son had one stab wound to his chest.
Moreover, police noted that Metallica Harrison had injuries on her wrist and neck and was taken to a hospital for care.
During the ambulance journey, she reportedly told the responders, “I f**ked up. I f**ked up. I just needed energy and strength.”
She allegedly expressed that she wasn’t supposed to be alive anymore, stating, “Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child.”
The police reported that while at the hospital, Harrison claimed she was “suicidal, not stupid.”
Sources from WGAL-TV stated that investigators recovered two teal knives, medication containers, and what authorities suspect to be blood at the scene.
Employees of the resort confirmed that the knives found were not part of the hotel’s standard kitchenware.
Officers executed a search at Harrison’s home, seizing numerous teal knives, teal scissors, various journals, a book, financial records, a laptop, a safe, and envelopes addressed to both Charles Harrison and Metallica Harrison.
Police suggested that it’s common for individuals in such situations to document their feelings, including thoughts of homicide or suicide.
Additionally, law enforcement noted that an electric utility shutoff notice was found on the home’s front door.
Charles and Metallica Harrison checked into the Great Wolf Lodge on September 21, with plans to leave on Tuesday.
Family of Charles Harrison informed police that Metallica had a dominating and controlling nature and had isolated both her husband and son from his family over the past three years.
Reports indicated that Metallica had expressed resentment toward her son and had mentioned she never wanted to be pregnant.
Charles’s mother revealed that funds were withdrawn from her son’s retirement account to finance the family trip.
Metallica Harrison has been arrested and is facing two counts of criminal homicide.
On Tuesday, a judge ordered her to be held without bail at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
The police described the occurrence as an “isolated domestic tragedy,” extending their condolences to the affected family and friends.
Details regarding the motive remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.
The Great Wolf Lodge expressed sorrow over the incident, affirming their cooperation with local authorities.
