Motorcade accompanying Walz involved in crash in Wisconsin

A car traveling in Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's motorcade crashed Monday as the Democratic vice presidential nominee was on his way to a campaign rally in Milwaukee.

According to a reporter accompanying the governor, the collision “threw the vehicle violently forward,” causing a broken arm in the van carrying the media personnel. Governor Walz's vehicle was not involved in the pileup, and it was reported that the vehicle continued driving to a planned election event.

Vice President Harris' new running mate kicked off the Labor Day holiday by meeting with local leaders in Minnesota, and his motorcade is on its way to Wisconsin, where he's scheduled to speak at the Milwaukee Area Labor Council's Labor Day celebration.

Other reporters accompanying the governor reportedly suffered scrapes and bruises, and another was believed to have a concussion. The Hill has reached out to the campaign for more details.

After the accident, reporters and staff got into a new van and headed to Waltz's event, according to reporters. The cause of the accident is unclear.

While Walz will be in Milwaukee, Harris will campaign with President Biden in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
