The well-known children’s YouTuber, Rachel Accurso, who is widely recognized as “Ms. Rachel,” has invested upwards of $22,000 in Democratic and progressive candidates since 2024. Meanwhile, her brand aimed at toddlers has been growing, now featuring partnerships with Netflix, Penguin Random House, and toys available at Target.
Once a preschool teacher in New York City, Accurso has become the face of a children’s entertainment empire worth millions. She teaches language and sings nursery rhymes to over 21 million subscribers on YouTube. Interestingly, she’s also emerged as a prominent voice in political discussions, which has led to criticism regarding her views on the Israel-Hamas conflict, racial issues, and immigration policies from the Trump era.
James Zahn, editor-in-chief of “The Toy Book,” commented on Accurso’s status, highlighting that she’s joined the ranks of major preschool brands like Sesame Street and Cocomelon. “For families with young children, she’s now an integral part of daily life,” Zahn remarked.
Accurso, 43, started her YouTube channel in 2019 after struggling to find appropriate media for her son, who had a speech delay. Her channel rapidly gained traction, leading to the creation of “Songs for Littles,” where she performs various songs wearing her signature pink attire.
Her ascendancy in fame has positioned her as a major player in the children’s media landscape, while her political activism has garnered attention. Accurso has made substantial donations—around $22,500— to Democratic and progressive candidates since 2024, becoming especially vocal about the Israel-Hamas war and related topics.
In her collaborations, she has worked with names like Netflix and Penguin Random House, with her brand expanding through toy lines launched by Spin Master. “I remember knowing Ms. Rachel was nearby at Toy Fair New York, not just as a character but as a business figure,” Zahn recounted. The toys produced from her brand showcase an educational and entertaining flair that appeals to children.
Accurso’s partnership with Netflix, which kicked off in 2025, aims to provide her content to children who may not have access to YouTube, which can be a barrier for some families. Even though many kids are exposed to screens, not all parents approve of unrestricted YouTube usage.
As she balances her brand’s growth with her political views, some parents express concern about her activism. Accurso has openly supported various candidates, notably donating $250 to Kamala Harris’s campaign after Joe Biden endorsed her in 2024, followed by additional contributions that brought the total to $3,000. Additionally, she gave $5,000 to Cameron Kasky’s congressional campaign, promoting a platform centered on significant changes to immigration policies and military funding.
Her commitment to political activism has sparked debates over the potential implications for her brand. Critics have pointed out her high-profile stance on controversial issues, which makes some parents cautious. Still, Zahn believes companies will likely continue to partner with her, as they weigh the repercussions of her political engagements against her popularity.
Accurso’s net worth is estimated to be around $50 million, with Forbes ranking her among top creators based on earnings. But distinguishing between the brand and the person can be tricky—something that’s not uncommon in the world of children’s entertainment.
As her influence permeates both toys and media, questions linger about how her personal viewpoints impact her brand and audience acceptance. While she maintains a focus on educational content, how she navigates her political engagements remains to be seen, especially as parents are increasingly aware of the messages their children consume.
