Ms. Rachel shares support for reparations referencing an essay by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Ms. Rachel supports young children in hijabs after Trump shares a video.

Children’s YouTuber Rachel, known for her engaging educational content, shared her stance on reparations through an Instagram post on Monday, marking yet another political statement from online educators.

Rachel Acaso, her real name, quoted Ta-Nehisi Coates’ 2014 essay, “The Case for Reparations,” highlighting America’s slavery history. The quote emphasizes the need to acknowledge the nation’s moral debt: “250 years of slavery. 90 years of Jim Crow. 60 years of segregation but equality. 35 years of racist housing policies. America will never be whole until we consider our growing moral debt.”

Fox News Digital tried to reach out to both Acaso and Coates for comments but did not receive an immediate response.

Coates’ essay is one of his most recognized works, arguing that America’s wealth came from unjust practices and that the country must confront its past rather than simply provide financial reparations. He stated, “I’m talking about more than retribution for past wrongdoing… Reparations means a revolution in American consciousness, reconciling our self-image as great democrats with the facts of our history.”

Recently, this post was part of Acaso’s broader political engagement, as she has previously endorsed numerous Democratic candidates ahead of important primaries. For instance, she backed former Rep. Cori Bush and Michigan State Sen. Abdul El-Sayed.

In another instance, she suggested race played a role in how the investigation into Nolan Wells’ mysterious death unfolded. She stated, “We know that if Nolan Wells had been white and his friends had been black, the investigation would have been different, Nolan and his family deserve justice.”

However, her comments did not sit well with some, including former Florida state attorney Dave Aronberg, who criticized her for being divisive, especially concerning her remarks about the Israel-Hamas situation.

Rachel’s commitment to political advocacy has been evident in her public discussions and comments surrounding various social issues. As she ventures further into the political landscape, it’s clear she aims to use her platform for advocacy on contentious topics.
