O'Donnells began comparing apples to oranges, intending President Trump's victory to be a harbinger of his defeat in November.

“One of the important frameworks for thinking about what President Trump accomplished and what he didn't accomplish is what Joe Biden accomplished,” the liberal talking head said. “Someone else came in second place tonight.”

The runner-up O'Donnell was referring to was Democratic challenger Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, who won 19.7% of the vote in the New Hampshire Democratic primary — American Research earlier this month. The group's polls more or less showed that. he will receive it. Biden failed to register in the state, but instead he received 67.5% of the vote.

“So Dean Phillips was completely devastated and couldn't even get close to the threshold,” O'Donnell said. “So Joe Biden demonstrated this tremendous power tonight in New Hampshire.”

“So Mr. Trump is showing a much weaker position against a credible challenger,” the MSNBC host continued, noting that roughly 70% of Haley's supporters are not registered Republicans. He wants to be called president in court and everywhere, so let's just call him president for this moment.”

“When the president goes to the polls in the New Hampshire primary, he's supposed to win everything. He's not supposed to face a serious challenger. And if he does, he's supposed to lose.” O'Donnell said. “No president has faced serious challenges in the New Hampshire primary and won in November.”

“If you look at the pattern of presidents facing very serious challenges in the New Hampshire primary, tonight is a very bad night for Donald Trump,” O'Donnell concluded.

Although Mr. Trump did not live up to the MSNBC host's expectations, he still has a several-point lead over Mr. Biden in the latest polls, with a reported 5-point lead.
