On MSNBC's “Katie Tarr Report” on Thursday, host Katie Tarr showed viewers the devastation caused by wildfires in Pacific Palisades, the Los Angeles neighborhood where she grew up.
“This is the Palisades, the heart of the village, part of the area that hasn't changed over time as much as other areas, but now it's changed. Now that's completely gone,” Tour said.
She continued, “I think what I'm standing in front of here was a barber shop when I was growing up. It's a barber shop, there's a small jewelry store, and there's a boutique clothing store on the left side of here. The Chamber of Commerce, which held all the historical information about this historic town, this very old town, has completely disappeared. I have Nick Lane, who was the head of the Chamber of Commerce for decades, and he liked this place so much that he put all his records in that little building a few years ago. He recently passed away, and now there's nothing left of this building. We have to hope someone digitizes the records, albums, and photos.”
“By the way, the elementary school is right near here. You can see a little green lawn over there. It was badly, badly damaged. By the way, the elementary school I went to is over 100 years old. 100 years old. It was built for a while, but is now partially demolished. However, there was a photo of it in the Chamber of Commerce. There was a really great music class called Music. You could buy guitars and take guitar lessons. It was right down the street from here. My brother did karate next door. There was an art studio where I learned how to use chalk and pastels, but that's all gone.
