MTV Cancels “Ridiculousness” After 14 Years

MTV has decided to end its long-running show “Ridiculousness,” which has been on the air for 14 years.

According to various sources, including TMZ, the show’s cast and crew learned about the cancellation earlier this week. Rob Dyrdek, Steelo Brim, and their team have been informed that this season will be their last. A senior representative from the network reportedly delivered the news directly, leaving many surprised.

“Ridiculousness” had paused production in July and was set to resume in January. Although previously produced episodes will continue to air on MTV until 2026, no new original episodes will be made, as per information from insiders.

Earlier seasons will still be broadcast on MTV, with select seasons also available for streaming via Paramount+.

This cancellation signifies the close of a significant chapter. Dyrdek, Brim, and Chanel West Coast introduced the show in 2011, quickly becoming a fixture on the network. Interestingly, Chanel West Coast is set to retire in 2023, and her role will be filled by Lauren “Lolo” Wood in 2024.

During its run, “Ridiculousness” produced a total of 46 seasons. The show, which compiled viral internet videos by genre, showcased reactions from celebrity guests. The cancellation follows a swift Paramount-Skydance merger, which has led to widespread layoffs within the company.

As of now, the show’s hosts have not publicly addressed the abrupt cancellation.
