Prosecutors who worked with former special counsel Robert Mueller on the investigation focusing on Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin plan to publish the book in the fall, the spokesman said in a press release Thursday.
“This is the first inside look at the most thorough investigation of President Trump’s presidency,” said a release from publisher Simon & Schuster for the book, “Interference: Inside Trump, Russia, and the Mueller Inquiry.”
According to the announcement, the book is scheduled to be published on September 24, 2024, just weeks before the November 5, 2024 presidential election.
“The book was written by Aaron Zebley, James Quarles and Andrew Goldstein — the team that led the investigation with Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller — and features a foreword by Mueller,” the release continued. “It completes and corrects the historical record of the only federal criminal investigation into President Trump while in office. This book takes on special meaning today, at a time when the Supreme Court has significantly limited the presidential conduct that can be prosecuted or investigated and brought to light.”
Mueller’s investigation began in late 2017 and lasted 22 months, ending in mid-2019. The special counsel presented no evidence that former President Trump or anyone associated with his campaign conspired with Moscow to influence the election eight years ago, but he did not reach a conclusion on whether Trump obstructed justice.
“The author’s account is a true-life thriller that puts readers in the room as the Special Counsel makes some of the most consequential and difficult decisions of his two tumultuous years. Less than four months after President Trump took office, the Department of Justice appointed former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III as Special Counsel,” the release said.
“Special Counsel Mueller’s primary mission will be to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 election – an effort to put Donald Trump in office as President – and how that effort may have connected to the Trump campaign,” the statement continued. “Special Counsel Mueller’s other mission will be to determine whether the President himself interfered with the investigation of Russian actions.”
