Sen. Mark Wayne Marin (R-Okla.) said on Sunday he was joking while running for his third term, saying he couldn't ask for a change of the constitution without voter consent. He added.
“First of all, he joked, and I think we need to make it a joke, not literally, but a joke,” Marin asks NBC's “meet the press.” When he was asked if he supported Trump's approval for a third term.
Anchor Kristen Welker pointed out that some of Trump's allies “say they're fatally serious” about the third term, and asked Mullin if he would support it.
“No. We're not changing the constitution first, unless Americans choose to do that,” Marin said.
“I think it's just like you said at the beginning, and people need to take it as a joke,” Marin continued. “The President is a very interesting guy and you can find extreme humor when you're sitting down to visit with him. At the same time, he can get fatally serious. So I'm saying he's. I call you my friend.”
The president has repeatedly come up with the idea of winning his second time in November and then winning a third term since he won two times during a meeting with House Republicans.
Trump again raised the idea that he wanted a third term on Thursday. This is prohibited by the Constitution. This time, we were loudly approved by our supporters at the Black History Monthly event.
“Should I run again? Trump asked the crowd gathered in the east room of the White House.
“There's your controversy there,” he said as supporters cheered.
Trump laughed as attendees began chanting “Another Four Years,” and he said the clip would appear in the evening newscast.
House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.) said on Sunday that Trump is trying to “squeak” by talking about his third term and being King.
Jeffries, who appeared in CNN's “Confederation State,” said Trump “deliberately unleashes extremism and outrageous things on Americans who try to confuse everyday Americans.”
“Donald Trump is not king. He never bends his knees. Not now. And I will continue to point out that he is focusing on the wrong things,” he added.
