A driver crashed into a Michigan boat club where a birthday party was being held, injuring multiple adults and children, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 3pm on Saturday at the Swan Boat Club in Berlin’s Charter District. A Michigan State Police spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the driver of the car was intoxicated at the time.
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnow called the situation a “tragic incident” in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle passed through a building where children were present.” [sic] “A birthday celebration took place and many people, both children and adults, were seriously injured,” the statement said.

“The victims were transported to multiple area hospitals.”
The exact number of injured is unknown, and authorities have not confirmed whether there were any fatalities in the incident.
In a Facebook post. The Swan Boat Club announced it would temporarily close following the incident.

“In consideration of the emergency situation, we ask that you do not come to Swan Boat Club at this time to allow access for emergency vehicles,” the boat club said in a post. “At this time, the club is closed until further notice.”
