Multiple police officers struck by gunfire in active North Carolina SWAT situation

Multiple officers were shot at a crime scene in Charlotte, North Carolina, Monday afternoon, police said.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported that “numerous” officers were shot at the scene. As of 2:16 p.m., the situation remained active and multiple victims had been transported to local hospitals.

Police say: “Please avoid the area.” “Many roads are closed to allow for rapid transport of ambulances. Please cooperate with the authorities.”

At 2:23 p.m., police confirmed that a SWAT team was on the scene. Police urged residents to stay inside their homes.

“The CMPD SWAT team arrived on scene and continues to work to resolve the incident,” X’s post reads. “This location is still active. Please stay away from this area.”
