Democrats held a closed-door meeting on Sunday amid growing pressure on President Biden to withdraw from the race.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York held a virtual meeting with ranking Democrats on House committees on Sunday afternoon.
Fox News has learned that several Democrats on House committees have expressed concerns about the possibility of Biden continuing to seek reelection against former President Trump.
Fox was told the consensus among most of the Democrats who suggested on the call that Biden should drop out of the race was that the party should focus on Vice President Kamala Harris as a potential successor.

It is unclear which Democrats have called on Biden to step aside, or how concerned they are about the current president continuing to seek a second term.
The meeting was proposed after Biden gave a 22-minute interview with ABC News on Friday, in which his campaign hoped to allay concerns that the president doesn’t have the power to continue his campaign and defeat former President Donald Trump.
If anything, the interview sparked new anxiety among Democrats already concerned by Biden’s dismal debate performance.

“While Biden certainly looked better and more consistent than he did in the debate, there was nothing in this interview to calm the nerves of Democrats who are worried that Joe Biden is on track to lose this race to Donald Trump,” ABC News Washington bureau chief Jonathan Karl said after the interview.
