Murder inquiry launched after woman fatally stabbed in Bradford | UK news

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was stabbed to death in Bradford city centre.

Police were called to Westgate, at the intersection with Drewton Road, at 3.21pm on Saturday after receiving reports that a woman had been stabbed by a man and then running away.

West Yorkshire Police said the woman was taken to hospital, where she later died.

She has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be 27 years old, the force said. Her family has been informed and is being assisted by specially trained police officers.

Detective Inspector Stacey Atkinson, from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Investigation Team, said: “This was a shocking incident that occurred in broad daylight in a busy area of ​​Bradford and was witnessed by many people.

“A young woman has lost her life in the most horrific circumstances and a major investigation continues to identify and arrest the man responsible.

“We know this incident will cause understandable concern in the local community and we would like to reassure the public that we are working tirelessly to investigate this horrific crime and bring those responsible to justice. I think.
