Murder suspect Ronnie Fewell arrested more than 40 times prior to shooting at a North Carolina Motel 6

A man believed to be responsible for the death of a 51-year-old in North Carolina has a lengthy arrest history, with over 40 prior convictions.

Ronnie Fewell, 32, is accused of fatally shooting Ronald Neville at a Motel 6 in Charlotte on October 10, according to legal documents. Neville was discovered with several gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

Surveillance footage shows Fewell was among three individuals who burst into the motel room, staying for just a brief moment. Detectives noted that one of the men exited the room quickly, carrying a backpack that hadn’t been seen earlier.

Fewell faces charges including felony murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy linked to the incident. Authorities believe he is one of four individuals involved in Neville’s demise.

The backpack reportedly held items worth around $100, as detailed in the arrest warrant.

Fewell was denied bail and is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Since 2012, Fewell has racked up at least 40 arrests, as per court and arrest documents reviewed. Previous charges against him have included a variety of offenses, such as resisting an officer, trespassing, possession of stolen goods, and various assault and drug-related charges.

While many of these charges were eventually dismissed, he has served time for some convictions, according to court records.

Congressman Mark Harris, a Republican from North Carolina, expressed his frustration over Fewell’s repeated offenses in a statement, labeling him a “serial offender” who was still free when he was arrested for the recent murder.
