Musk blames 'massive cyberattack' for X outage

Elon Musk said his social media platform X was targeting “massive cyberattacks” on Monday, prompting the suspension of thousands of users.

“There was a massive cyberattack on X,” Musk wrote on the platform Monday afternoon. “We get attacked every day, but this has been done with a lot of resources. There is a large, coordinated group and/or country involved. Trace…”

Musk provided no further information and X did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

The statement comes hours after users first reported the issue on the platform early on Monday morning.

The issue was first reported, and at about 5:30am, the 6am suspension report had dropped dramatically until about 9:30am, just before the report surged, according to the suspended website downdetector.com.

According to the website, the suspension report peaked at over 41,000 users just after 10am. The problem seemed to be resolved in about 45 minutes, but the stop was returned within 30 minutes. As of 1pm EDT, over 35,000 users reported issues.
