Musk boasts of 1 billion views for ‘no limits’ X interview with Trump

Tech billionaire Elon Musk said his conversation with former President Trump on Monday night had a combined total of 1 billion views.

“My conversation with @realDonaldTrump and the subsequent discussion from other accounts have now had nearly 1 billion combined views,” Musk posted on his social media platform, X, early Tuesday morning after the interview.

The message followed an earlier post which explained that “between 7:47pm ET and 10:47pm ET, President Donald Trump’s posts about space received 73 million views. During the same time period, there were 4 million posts about Elon Musk’s conversation with President Trump on 𝕏, which received a total of 998 million views.”

Trump spoke with Musk in a two-hour audio-only interview on Twitter Monday night, during which the 45th president spoke at length about immigration, rising inflation, the assassination attempt and the policies he would implement if he wins the Nov. 5 election.

“I believe over 20 million people have come into our country. Many of them are coming from prisons, from psychiatric hospitals or larger psychiatric hospitals. Many of them are terrorists. And I’ll be very clear to you, they’re not just coming from South America. They’re coming from Africa. They’re coming from all over the world. They’re coming from Asia. They’re coming from the Middle East,” Trump told Musk, who endorsed Trump earlier this year.

Trump said this despite Vice President Kamala Harris recently saying she would address the worsening migrant crisis at the border if elected. She and President Biden Years to address immigration issues, but “nothing done”

“She had three and a half years. And by the way, they have five more months to do something. And they’re not doing anything. It’s all lip service. She’s incompetent, he’s incompetent. And frankly, I think she’s more incompetent than he is, and that’s saying something, because he’s not very good,” he said.

Trump and Musk’s interview began just after 8:30 p.m. on Monday after being delayed by a “massive” distributed denial of service attack on the platform, Musk explained on X. Despite the interruptions, the interview garnered 1 billion viewers, according to Musk’s tally.

During the conversation, Trump also mentioned Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, saying a Democratic “coup” had forced him to do so. Biden dropped out of the race last month amid growing concerns about his mental competency and his age, 81, which led Democrats and the party’s traditional allies to call for him to drop out.

“This was a coup. This was a coup of the president of the United States. He didn’t want to leave, but they said, ‘We can do it the soft way or we can do it the hard way,'” Trump said.

“They just took him out behind a shed and basically shot him,” Musk added, before Trump slammed Biden as “the worst president ever.”

The 45th president also criticized Harris for her disdain for media and interviews since emerging as a possible 2024 Democratic candidate. As of Tuesday, Harris had avoided any formal press conferences or in-person interviews for 23 days, including a Time magazine cover story.

Trump returned to TwitterX early Monday after not posting on his once-favorite social media platform for nearly a year. Before Musk bought Twitter (now TwitterX) in 2022, Trump had his Twitter account suspended following the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. After Musk reinstated his account, Trump barely posted on the platform, only releasing a photo of his face in August last year.
