Elon Musk, the billionaire behind SpaceX, has called out a spokesperson for California Governor Gavin Newsom for suggesting that Musk’s son, who he refers to as his transgender “daughter,” has feelings of animosity toward him.
Musk responded, stating, “I think you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who is struggling with a severe mental illness exacerbated by a harmful awakening virus affecting vulnerable kids.” He added, “I care deeply for Xavier and wish him a full recovery. My daughters, Azul, Exa (nicknamed Y), and Arcadia, love me a lot.”
This statement from Musk came after a tweet from Newsom’s press office, which replied to a post from Musk’s America PAC that featured clips from an interview where Newsom participated in the ezra klein show.
In that interview, Newsom expressed his desire to connect with transgender youth and claimed to have enacted more pro-trans legislation than any other governor.
In response to Musk’s America PAC sharing these words, Newsom’s press office wrote, “Correct. I’m sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”
Lucas Nolan from Breitbart News reported in August 2024 that in a social media thread, Xavier, known as “Vivian Wilson,” referred to Musk as a “serial adulterer” and “not family-oriented,” among other things.
On Mark Zuckerberg’s platform, Xavier Musk, using Vivian Wilson, described his father negatively, criticizing his attempts to portray himself as a “caring father” while accusing him of dishonesty in interviews and on social media.
Musk had previously claimed he was “misled” into allowing his son to undergo “gender reassignment procedures” during the pandemic, suggesting he felt a sense of loss as a result.
In June 2022, reports indicated that Xavier had filed for a legal name and gender change, stating in those documents that he no longer wished to have a relationship with Musk “in any way, shape, or form.”
