Tesla CEO and X/Twitter owner Elon Musk has reportedly pledged to donate roughly $45 million per month to pro-Trump super PACs.
A source familiar with the matter Said of The Wall Street Journal Musk has pledged to donate about $45 million a month to America PAC, a political action committee he launched in June, after coming off the sidelines to donate “significant amounts” to the organization to support former President Donald Trump’s reelection.
The outlet cited other donors to the USA PAC as including Harvard-educated twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who accepted a settlement after accusing Mark Zuckerberg of stealing the idea for Facebook from them, and former U.N. ambassador Kelly Craft.
A source told the outlet that USA PAC is “focused on voter registration and persuading voters to vote early and request mail-in ballots” in battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and Georgia.
One of the sources reportedly told the outlet that, according to recent filings, America PAC had received approximately $8.75 million in donations “in the three months ending June 30.”
The USA PAC received $8.75 million in donations in the three months ended June 30, according to a filing on Monday. Musk had signaled he planned to start making donations in July, one of the people said.
Musk recently announced his financial support for a pro-Trump super PAC amid growing criticism of President Joe Biden and the policies of his administration.
In a May 2023 interview with CNBC, Musk said the suppression of reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop was “election interference.”
Musk said: Revealed Although Trump once called Musk “out of the blue for no reason,” the two men have not always seen eye to eye. In October 2022, Musk criticized the former president’s social media platform, Truth Social, describing it as a “right-wing echo chamber.”
A month after making the remarks, Musk reinstated Trump’s account on X.
