Musk reveals that every child in America will get a share of SpaceX in 2027

Elon Musk’s Generous Plan for American Children

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has made an intriguing announcement: “every kid in America” will receive one share of SpaceX, which is valued at nearly $2 trillion.

The company, which went public in June, has made headlines for having the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) ever, due to its merger with Musk’s Super Intelligence (SI) venture, xAI.

On Monday, Musk revealed his ambitious plan to allocate billions of dollars in stock to American children in 2027. This has caused quite a stir!

“Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America,” Musk stated. “This will be the first of many.”

However, details about the distribution method, eligibility criteria, and logistics of transferring the shares to millions of children remain unclear. It’s a bit vague, frankly.

Musk’s use of the phrase “my SpaceX shares” implies that this initiative might stem from his personal stock rather than new shares being created, which was noted by Forbes.

As reported by CNBC, the estimated value of this giveaway is around $10.5 billion, calculated based on SpaceX’s recent closing stock price and the number of children under 18 in the U.S.

Interestingly, an SEC filing from August highlighted that Musk owns a 48.4% stake in SpaceX, amounting to roughly 6.4 billion shares when considering stock options and unvested awards.

This announcement comes shortly after SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell mentioned a hefty donation to Trump Accounts, leaving some to wonder if Musk’s commitment is linked to the Trump administration’s child savings program. It’s all a bit complicated, I guess.
