Muslim journalist says Trump DOJ must probe ‘frightening network’ funding US antisemitism

A Muslim journalist warned the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that anti-Semitism has become a “industry” in the United States and asked the Justice Department to investigate the “malignant foreign influence” behind it.

“Anti-Semitism is the industry now. Unfortunately, it is an industry perpetuated by organizations with non-profit status in the United States. “And these are organizations that have their own mission to use this opposition to Israel as a Trojan horse to perpetuate this hatred. These young students we have are the targets of that hatred.”

“October 7 has become their moment, and unfortunately, it's no use for anyone to pull our punches and not recognize their dangers in our society,” Nomani added. “It absolutely does not serve the interests of an inclusive society. A real inclusive society means we will not tolerate any kind of hatred, and the kind we have now with the Jewish community is a proportion of trends.”

In her opening statement, Nomani detailed the origins of the Pearl Project, a faculty student research project on the murder of Daniel Pearl. Pearl was Nomani's colleague in the Wall Street Journal. He was lured and killed by Islamic terrorists, and Nomani claimed Pearl was a descendant of Israel.

“Many people would think he was targeted because he was Jewish, but FBI agents went to the temptation and interviewed him, “I didn't target him just because he was Jewish. He targeted him because he was Israel's son,” Nomani told the committee. “I'm reporting here. 22 years later, I've been researching networks that perpetuated the targeted hatred against Danny. We call them protesters, and we have names, but they are organizations from the network currently numbered 1,500.

Nomani held up posters seen at recent anti-Israel protests and at a democratic national convention spread by American Muslims for Palestine.

She allegedly accused of being blown away by Christopher Columbus statue in front of the Union Station in Washington, DC, with “Hamas coming” during a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit last July, and “a man who is not just an assistant, but a Parektin American Muslim supervisor.” She alleged that other anti-Israeli protesters were affiliated with the party for socialism and liberation.

“The hatred of killing Danny Pearl on the streets of Karachi is now on our streets. It's on our campus. It's a horrifying network of left and Muslim groups,” she said. “No one in this room can support their ideals. Their ideals oppose individual freedom and free enterprise. They want to destroy the United States. They want to destroy Israel.

Nomani continued: “We must recognize this existential threat. It's a huge network. We need to investigate them. When we are working on these malignant foreign actors who want to destroy America, we must register with the Foreign Agent Registration Act.

Sen. R-Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz, later questioned another witness about funding anti-Semitism in the United States.

“Is there obviously a lot of funding for these attacks on Jewish students and attacks on the United States?” Cruz asked Dr. Aliza Lewin, president of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Center.

“It's clear that there must be adjustments and some common funds,” Lewin replied.

Lewin said he was unaware of investigations under the Biden Department of Justice to track the money behind anti-Semitic activities, and no one has been found out about the funding flow. Cruz again asked if the university or institution where Title VI federal funds were cut off because Lewin was “tolerant, welcome,” and “its own officials cheering for anti-Semitism.”

Regarding the freedom of speech debate, Cruz also suggested that the university would bring prompt punishment for those who tried to dress members of the Ku Klux Klan on campus.

“They should expel them. If they are foreign students, they should be expelled. And I mark my words, if you are terrified of anti-Semitism, you will be cutting off money from the university where the Trump Justice Department chases money, prosecutes people paying for this, prosecutes people engaged in violence, tolerate this, and chops money from the university that celebrates it,” Cruz said. “That's the rule of law. And ask yourself, “Why did the Biden Department of Justice absolutely do nothing about this fear that is unfolding?” ”
