Muslim Protests Break Out in Rochdale over Alleged Police Brutality Video

Violent protests erupted in the Muslim area of Rochdale on Wednesday evening after a video was posted on social media of a police officer kicking a man in the head after he was detained at Manchester Airport.

Late on Wednesday night, hundreds of angry Muslims stormed into Greater Manchester Police headquarters in Rochdale, reportedly shouting “Allah is great”. [God is great/Our God is the Greatest]”Fuck the police” and “Shame on you GMP”.

Speakers at an impromptu demonstration in Rochdale – long known internationally as a hotspot for England’s child rape “grooming” gangs – said the police were “institutionally racist” and Daily Mail Reports.

The protests began after footage was posted on social media appearing to show a police officer kicking a man in the head after he was restrained on the ground at Manchester Airport, while other footage appears to show police using pepper spray and tasers on several young people.

But police claim that online videos only tell half the story and that the forceful arrest took place after a brawl in which three officers were assaulted and a female officer had her nose broken.

Reform UK deputy leader and MP Richard Tice said the police response was “reassuring rather than alarming” and that officers were dealing with a “serious issue” that may have been a potential terrorism situation.

Deputy Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry of GMP Said“Footage of the incident at Manchester Airport has been widely circulated and we know it shows truly shocking events which understandably have caused people great concern.

“We understand that the use of this level of force during an arrest is unusual and disturbing. Prior to what is seen in the footage released, we received reports of an assault at Manchester Airport Terminal 2 at 8.25pm on Tuesday 23 July.”

“The suspect was seen on surveillance video from the car park ticket machine and officers attended the scene and made an arrest. During our response, three officers were assaulted; one female officer suffered a broken nose and another officer was thrown to the ground and suffered injuries requiring treatment at hospital.”

“One male officer has been removed from duty and the police response has been voluntarily referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”

“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of assault, assault on an emergency worker, disorderly conduct and obstructing police. Two other men have also been arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and assault on an emergency worker.”

But the explanation did little to ease tensions, with one speaker at the Rochdale protest declaring: “If we don’t get justice tomorrow, these bastards will get justice.”

another Said“We can’t put up with police violence anymore. We trust the police, but when we surrender they resort to violence. They’re supposed to be the police, but they’re gangsters in uniform. We can’t put up with this anymore.”

Comments from men Posts People on social media have warned that if the officers involved are not both suspended and jailed, the community will switch to “Plan B” and launch protests “like nothing we’ve seen before.”

Veteran left-wing campaigner and former Rochdale MP George Galloway said: Said“Greater Manchester politicians need to get to grips with the Manchester Airport incident quickly – very quickly. The atmosphere in the community is seething with anger and we urge everyone involved in the legitimate protests currently spreading across the region to remain calm.”

Labour’s Paul Waugh, the current Rochdale MP who defeated Mr Galloway in the election earlier this month, Called the video “It’s really shocking and disturbing.”

The sectarian tensions come just days after riots broke out in Leeds after social services removed children from Roma families in the city, leading to violent riots which saw a double-decker bus burned, a police car overturned and officers pelted with stones.
