Remember when actor Will Smith stepped onto the stage at the 2022 Oscar and slapped Chris Rock all over his face after the comedian sacrificed his Smith's wife and made a joke?
He cried as Smith returned to his seat: “Turn my wife's name out of your fucking mouth!”
Ah, how everyone laughed. No one said that.
Currently, Smith has revisited the infamous episode with his new album, “Based on True Story,” which opened on Friday with “Will Smith Is Canceled” on the project's first track, “int. Barbershop – Day.” Variety Report The content will be interesting:
Featuring Smith's fresh Prince collaborators DJ Jazzy Jeff and B. Simone, the song sees the freestyle way of trading rumors and opinions about the actor and rapper. “Who do you think Smith is?” one voice asks, and another replies: “I'm not going to forgive him for that shit he did.”
Variety The report says that “int. Barbershop – Day” addresses lyrics that are more direct than Oscar's controversy.

However, Smith didn't have to return his Oscars – the academy instead banned him from attending any event related to the organization for ten years. Smith also resigned from his academy membership, announcing an apology, admitting that he “deeply regrets” for his actions.
The second track “You Lookin' for Me?” also hints at a scandal. Smith Lap: “Take a lot of time and I'm back to the top/Y'all gon' have to adapt/No stop, my shit is still hot/I'm not getting nominated.”
“Based on a True Story” marks Smith's first full-length solo music project in 20 years, with his last release in 2005 “Lost and Found.”
