Miles Garrett Focuses on Football Amid Speeding Incident
Miles Garrett is determined to keep his “personal life” under wraps, particularly regarding his recent speeding citation.
During a media session on Wednesday, the standout defensive end for the Browns opted not to elaborate on the driving incident from earlier this month. He had been pulled over by Strongsville police for driving 100 mph in an 80 mph zone—a notable occurrence since he moved to Cleveland in 2017.
“I would honestly prefer to discuss football and my team rather than off-the-field incidents,” Garrett mentioned, according to reports.
The questioning about the incident continued, with six Pro Bowlers being asked separately about the matter multiple times.
“People are curious,” Garrett acknowledged. “But I aim to keep my life personal… My focus is on this team.”
When pressed yet again, the 29-year-old replied, “Let’s move on to another question so we can concentrate on this team.”
Garrett signed a substantial four-year contract extension worth $123.5 million just five months ago but got pulled over shortly after 2 a.m. on August 9th, according to public records.
The speeding incident occurred just hours after the Browns’ first preseason matchup against the Panthers in Charlotte.
Previously, Garrett was involved in a serious car accident three years ago, where his vehicle flipped multiple times after leaving the Browns’ practice facility in Berea, Ohio. Fortunately, he only sustained a “minor” injury and was hospitalized.
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski described Garrett’s latest citation as “very disappointing” and emphasized the need for him to drive more cautiously both for his own safety and that of others.
This will be Garrett’s ninth season with the Browns, following a challenging 3-14 campaign.
As the team gears up for their first game against the Bengals next month, there’s speculation about whether Garrett might have special supporters in the stands. Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim attended training camp recently, fueling dating rumors that began earlier this spring after they were spotted together at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo in May.
