Mike Lindell Launches Gubernatorial Campaign in Minnesota
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has officially kicked off his campaign for governor of Minnesota, aligning himself with former President Donald Trump. This announcement comes as investigations led by the House Oversight Committee are scrutinizing the state’s current Democratic governor, Tim Walz, particularly concerning a significant COVID-19 fraud case.
In his campaign launch on Steve Bannon’s streaming platform, Lindell asserted, “I will stand up for you as the next governor of Minnesota. I will stand up on your behalf against the rampant fraud under Governor Walz.” His pledges include tackling fraud, deporting illegal immigrants, abolishing property taxes, reforming education, addressing addiction issues, enhancing public safety, and securing elections.
Lindell emphasized the need for a governor who will confront all forms of fraud and ensure accountability for those misusing tax dollars, stating, “No one is above the law.” He has set up a campaign website to engage with constituents as he moves forward.
However, the Democrats are already preparing to counter his candidacy. One spokesperson from the Democratic Governors Association characterized Lindell as an out-of-touch extreme candidate entering a chaotic race. This skepticism comes shortly after Lindell filed the necessary paperwork to run.
Lindell’s past controversies shouldn’t be overlooked—he’s faced several legal issues related to unfounded claims regarding the 2020 presidential election. A federal jury recently found him liable for defamation against a former Dominion Voting Systems employee, resulting in significant financial penalties.
As Lindell enters a crowded Republican primary field that includes names like Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth and other candidates, the political landscape is shaping up for a competitive race. Meanwhile, Governor Walz plans to seek re-election for a third term, having previously gained national attention as a notable figure in the Democratic Party.
