A recently released report named the popular southern beach resort as the city with the most influx of migrants by 2024.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was named the city most people move to when they first arrived, along with Wilmington, North Carolina, in an analysis released by moving and storage company PODS.
PODS has found that a recent trend is that more and more Americans are choosing to move to southern states.
“More and more people are moving to the Southern Appalachian region, which includes states such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama,” PODS explained.

“People also continue to move to certain cities in Florida, as well as long-standing popular retirement locations such as Boise, Portland (Maine) and Phoenix.”
PODS cites “low cost of living, access to the outdoors and a stable quality of life” as reasons for Carolina’s popularity.

1. Los Angeles, California
2. San Francisco Bay Area, California
3. South Florida (including Miami)

“Rising rents, housing challenges, high taxes and overcrowding are common issues in many of the cities that topped this year’s displacement list,” the report explains. “Los Angeles once again tops the list, followed by other big cities (and repeat offenders) such as San Francisco, Miami and Long Island, New York (part of the New York City metropolitan area served by PODS).”
