A mysterious black ring has appeared above a highway in Williamsburg, Virginia, prompting many confused passersby to snap photos of the floating phenomenon.
Witnesses captured nearly 10 photos from different angles of an ominous black circle hovering over the city’s north side starting at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Wavy TV 10.
But Ron Stepp, one of several people who sent footage to a local station, said the supposed “smoke” ring had completely dissipated within 10 minutes.
Witnesses suspected the eerie sight was caused by a fire or explosion, but there were no reports of explosions in the area at the time the ring appeared, James City County Fire Department officials told the outlet.
Ricky Matthews, a meteorologist with the agency, speculated that the strange circles could have been caused by a cluster of fires, perhaps staged for a movie.

A second meteorologist, Steve Fundalo Industrial, said the phenomenon could have been caused by industrial activity or a deliberate explosion.
The residents have since called the place “Crazy” And on social media I wondered, “What the…?”
