Nadler teams up with Mamdani: ‘Trump isn’t good for our city, and neither is Andrew Cuomo’

Nadler campaigns with Mamdani: 'Trump is no friend to our city, and neither is Andrew Cuomo'

Nadler Criticizes Cuomo and Trump During Campaign Event

On Tuesday, Representative Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) joined New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani in a campaign event where he voiced strong disapproval of both President Trump and former Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“New York has a history of standing up to bullies and defending what’s right, especially during tough times. I was taken aback to find out that Andrew Cuomo reached out to Donald Trump after the Democratic primary for advice,” Nadler stated at a press conference alongside Mamdani. “This kind of betrayal highlights exactly what we stand against. Politicians like these seem more focused on personal gains than on the welfare of our city. Cuomo and Trump share more similarities than differences.”

“Neither of them uses their power to benefit the community or the people they represent. If that wasn’t clear before, it surely is now. Donald Trump is no ally to our city, and neither is Andrew Cuomo. This is why choosing the next mayor of New York City matters so much,” he continued.

Mamdani recently criticized Trump’s reported involvement in the mayoral race.

“Today, it became apparent that Cuomo is directly coordinating with Trump, who would put neighbors on the streets and send in masked agents to undermine the social services many New Yorkers depend on,” Mamdani remarked in a post on Social Platform X.

“This disqualifies them and betrays our city,” he added.

Last week, reports surfaced suggesting that Trump is considering entering the race to prevent Mamdani from winning in November, with several sources indicating that Trump has been reaching out to Republican lawmakers and business leaders in New York, trying to gauge their confidence in defeating Mamdani.

The Times indicated that Trump and Cuomo had discussed the race over the phone in recent weeks.

In a separate press conference last week, Cuomo claimed, “I don’t remember the last time I spoke to President Trump,” and insisted, “I have never discussed the mayor’s race with him.”

Inquiries were made to Cuomo and White House spokespersons for additional comments.
