Tucson Authorities Raid Home in Search for Missing Woman
TUCSON, Ariz. — A significant raid took place Friday night in Rio Rico, Arizona, right near the Mexican border, as part of the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her family’s property.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department, along with the FBI, had court permission to search a residence in this small desert community where a man named Carlos Palazuelos was residing. He was taken in for questioning, briefly detained, and then, a few hours later, investigators wrapped up their search.
By Tuesday night, the only properties examined belonged to Nancy and her oldest daughter, Annie.
This operation began after Nancy missed a regular group meeting where she and her friends typically gathered to watch church services online. The FBI returned to Nancy’s home on February 6, conducting another search and removing items from the property, including surveilling the rooftop.
A drone captured footage of officers working to take a white cylindrical object from a shelf located over the courtyard. Interestingly, later they also towed Nancy’s blue SUV to a secure location.
In the days that followed, investigators conducted thorough searches at Annie Guthrie’s home as well, making two visits in early February—one three days after Nancy’s disappearance and another on the 7th. During the second raid, authorities appeared to conduct a much more comprehensive examination, bringing along bags and spending a couple of hours on-site.
Additionally, there have been extensive searches in the neighborhoods surrounding both women’s residences. Just recently, FBI agents went door-to-door in Annie’s area to gather more information. This approach seems to underline the urgency as the investigation unfolds.
On Tuesday afternoon, FBI Director Kash Patel released footage from a doorbell camera outside Nancy’s home. This video shows a masked individual, completely covered, approaching the entrance and carrying a firearm. Currently, there are no leads on potential suspects in Nancy’s disappearance.
