Activity in Bitcoin Account Linked to Nancy Guthrie’s Ransom
An account tied to the ransom involving Nancy Guthrie began to see some movement on Tuesday evening.
In public records, about $152 worth of Bitcoin appeared in the account, which came from a single transaction.
This amount translates to a deposit of 0.0022 Bitcoin.
However, the origin of these funds is uncertain. It appears that anyone with access to a copy of the ransom note could have sent money to this account.
According to Harvey Levin, the founder of TMZ, the mysterious deposit occurred around 7 PM ET, as discussed on a segment hosted by Sean Hannity on Fox News.
Levin, who has reviewed the initial ransom note from the alleged kidnappers, mentioned that his team has been monitoring the account since its receipt. He added, “I’ve been careful with my phrasing due to the sensitive nature of this case, and I’m not at liberty to disclose specific amounts right now.”
He touched on the complexity of the situation, stating, “We’ve made commitments, and we intend to uphold them.”
On February 1, footage captured a masked individual arriving at Guthrie’s home, apparently oblivious to a doorbell camera recording them.
Levin remarked on the peculiar behavior of this suspect, noting, “There’s a clumsiness in this scenario. This person managed to conceal their identity—aside from a visible mustache and goatee—but then, surprisingly, didn’t notice the camera, which led to a startled reaction and a rushed attempt to hide it.” He expressed confusion over how someone so methodical in writing the ransom note could be so careless in their actions.
