Kidnappers Claim Nancy Guthrie is “Safe but Scared”

In a shocking turn of events, Nancy Guthrie’s alleged kidnappers have reached out via a ransom note sent to TMZ, stating that the 84-year-old TV host’s mother is “safe but scared.” They assert they are aware of the horrific demands required for her safe return.

This note appears to be sent just two days after Savannah Guthrie’s mother was reported missing over the weekend, with the kidnappers requesting a hefty ransom in Bitcoin to prevent “consequential” outcomes.

Harvey Levin, TMZ’s chief, shared details about the letter during an appearance on Fox News, pointing out that it begins by reassurring that Nancy is “safe but scared.” He mentioned, “They know exactly what she needs.” Levin indicated that the kidnappers are using TMZ as an intermediary to communicate their demands to the family.

According to Levin, the note suggests this will be their sole form of communication, asserting that all negotiations have concluded. “This is the agreement, and that’s it,” he reported, further highlighting how this urgency has led the FBI and other agencies to intensify their efforts.

Levin refrained from delving into specifics but mentioned that the note contained particular information that gave him reason to believe Nancy, who authorities suspect was taken from her Tucson home, is still in the vicinity.

Law enforcement has emphasized that they are treating this memo, along with other communications sent to various media, with utmost seriousness.

In a related message, Heiss Janke, the FBI director in Phoenix, revealed that part of the ransom note included a deadline for payment due by Thursday night, with another deadline following on Monday if the initial one was not met.

This troubling saga comes on the heels of Savannah Guthrie and her two brothers releasing an emotional video pleading for their mother’s safe return. They expressed their willingness to engage in conversations, provided they receive proof that Nancy is alive.
