Nancy Mace plans to push for a vote to censure GOP Rep. Cory Mills

Rep. Nancy Mace to Force Censure Vote Against Rep. Cory Mills

Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) is set to push for a censure vote among House Republicans this Wednesday night.

According to two sources, Mace plans to introduce a censure resolution targeting Rep. Cory Mills (R-Florida) after she accused him of lacking courage in a recent statement.

Mace intends to present this censure as a privilege resolution, which would require House Republican leaders to vote within two days, ideally before the session concludes on Friday.

The timing is quite interesting, as House Democrats have threatened to retaliate with a censure of Mills after Republicans sought to censure unelected Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-V.I.) due to her affiliations with Jeffrey Epstein.

Interestingly, the attempt to censure Plaskett faced some setbacks; three House Republicans voted against it, while a few others supported it, leading to a complete rejection by all Democrats. It appears the Democratic Party opted not to move forward with charges against Mills following this failure.

Mace has accused Mills of participating in “backroom deals” to dodge accountability. She even pointed out that, when it comes to his service record, the nomination for the Bronze Star he received was never directly handled by him.

Mills’ office responded to these claims by stating that no agreement existed regarding the accusations and expressed their anticipation for the censure to proceed as planned. Interestingly, Mills also voted in favor of censuring Plaskett.

The exact reasons behind Mace’s decision to censure Mills still seem a bit unclear. However, she did send a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) criticizing Mills for what she described as “credible accusations of falsely reporting military service” and “credible accusations of committing crimes against women.”

Mills has previously denied any wrongdoing concerning these allegations. There hasn’t been a response yet from Mills’ spokesperson about Mace’s intentions.
