Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has reportedly privately expressed doubts about whether President Joe Biden could actually win, following the widespread panic sparked by his lackluster debate performance. Politico PlaybookPelosi has denied the allegations, citing “six members of Congress and others who have spoken with her or are familiar with those conversations.”

“She has suggested to people that Biden cannot win in November and should step aside, according to about a half-dozen lawmakers and others who have spoken to her or are familiar with those conversations,” the outlet continued, reporting that the former speaker has advised Democrats to wait until after the NATO summit before deciding. She has publicly argued the latter point, telling members to “let him handle this NATO meeting first.”

But reports that Pelosi privately said Biden would not win contradict her comments this week during a hostile Q&A with reporters, in which she dodged questions about Biden’s future. But during the exchange, Pelosi said she believed Biden could win.

Nevertheless, Politico Playbook Pelosi, through a spokeswoman, essentially denied the media report.
“Speaker Pelosi has publicly and privately acknowledged the concerns expressed by many in recent days, but has repeatedly said she has his full support whatever President Biden decides to do,” a spokesperson told the outlet.
Indeed, Pelosi was cautious in responding to Democrats’ calls for Biden to resign, initially steering the conversation toward former President Donald Trump. Pelosi has continued to publicly push back against questions about Biden’s physical and mental stamina on other television shows, including acknowledging that it was a “legitimate question” to ask whether Biden’s debate performance was an episode or a medical condition, but on MSNBC she again brought up Trump.
“He has the vision. He has the knowledge. He has the judgment. He has the strategic thinking. He was terrible tonight. Again, the question of is this an episode or is this a symptom is a legitimate one. People are legitimate to ask that question of both candidates,” she said, softening the blow by essentially referring to “both” candidates.

President Trump addressed Speaker Pelosi’s chatter in a Truth Social post on Wednesday, saying the 84-year-old is “more cognitively confused than Sleepy Crooked Joe” and suffers from “terminal symptoms of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).”
“She’s a total lunatic who impeached me twice and lost, and now she’s walking around saying I’m a threat to democracy and saying next to nothing. No, this is Radical Left Democrat disinformation and they’re good at it,” Trump said, with Pelosi adding, “Crooked Joe wants everyone who will listen to believe he’s a great man mentally and in top form, but as we all know, he’s not.”
