Nancy Pelosi panics when new Jan. 6 footage shows her make damning admission about Capitol security: ‘Directly contradicts’

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) ran to the safety of MSNBC after House Republicans released incriminating video footage taken on Jan. 6, 2021, of the former House Speaker.

The House Subcommittee on Government Oversight released new video from Jan. 6 that shows Pelosi, then the House speaker, blaming herself for not deploying the National Guard to the Capitol.

“I take responsibility for not making them more prepared.”

The video was filmed by Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandra Pelosi.

The video shows Pelosi speaking with her chief of staff, Terry McCullough, as she is escorted out of the Capitol in an SUV.

“Teri, we are responsible. We had no accountability for what was going on there, and we should have,” Pelosi said.

“This is ridiculous. You’re in the middle of the inauguration and you’re asking me if we should already call the Capitol Guard. No, the National Guard. Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?” Pelosi said.

McCullough tried to explain by saying he “thought there was enough money,” but Pelosi pushed back hard.

“It’s not a question of how they knew. They didn’t know,” Pelosi interjected. “They clearly didn’t know. I take responsibility for not preparing them better.”

Pelosi’s response

After the video was released, Pelosi appeared on MSNBC and accused critics of “revisionist history.”

“They’re trying to do a revisionist take on the history of January 6th. We cannot allow ourselves to be drawn back into their false impression of what happened that day,” she said.

Pelosi then blamed former President Donald Trump for not sending the National Guard to the Capitol on January 6. Of course, the remarks rang like revisionist history, because, as the new video shows, Pelosi became emotional and blamed herself.

Meanwhile, Pelosi’s office released a scathing statement.

“Numerous independent fact-checkers have repeatedly confirmed that Speaker Pelosi did not plan the January 6th assassination,” a spokesperson for her office said. Said.

The statement added:

As is clear from the entire video, Speaker Pelosi responded immediately to the attack on the Capitol, mobilizing the defense of the Capitol, calling in the National Guard, and regulating continuity of government. This conveniently excerpted and out-of-context footage does not change the fact that the Speaker was not in charge of security at the Capitol, whether on January 6th or any other day of the week. Three years later, House Republicans are still trying to cover up this deadly insurrection.

What’s the problem?

The footage is significant not just because Pelosi acknowledged it, but because the committee did not release it on January 6. It’s unclear why they decided to keep the footage hidden.

In fact, the footage only made it to our eyes today because House Republicans requested it of HBO. According to Politico.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Government Oversight, said the video “directly contradicts” Pelosi’s account of January 6.

“Pelosi’s J6 Select Committee used taxpayer money to chase a false political narrative and use Hollywood producers in their ‘investigations.’ Her admission of liability directly contradicts their own narrative,” he said. Said.
