Sandy Johnson, the pioneering CEO of Barrios Technology and a pioneering woman in the aerospace industry since the days of “Hidden Figures,” has listed her stunning townhouse on the Hawaiian island of Kauai for sale for $5.65 million.
Johnson, along with Katherine Johnson (no relation), the subject of the film “Hidden Figures,” were among the first women to work on NASA’s Space Shuttle program and have made major advances in space exploration over the decades.
She founded the first woman-owned small business to support NASA and continues to play a key role in all of NASA’s human spaceflight missions, including the Artemis program, which aimed to be the first woman and the first person of color to land on the Moon.
Her other passion is Kauai.
“I grew to love Kauai because it was the perfect balance between my career owning and leading a company that provides technology integration services to NASA,” Johnson told the Post.
“From the excitement of supporting all of our nation’s human spaceflight programs to relaxing on the beach sipping Mai Tais, life couldn’t be better!”
Located above the 15th hole on the Ocean Course HokualaTimbers Kauai’s two-story home, La Ola, is a real eye-catcher.
This gorgeous 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom split level home offers over 3,500 square feet of total living space and panoramic ocean and sunrise views.
An open floor plan with wall-to-wall glass doors allows for a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living.
The spacious lanai is the perfect spot for entertaining or relaxing and boasts over 1,000 square feet of outdoor space complete with an outdoor grill and private plunge pool.
Inside, the chef’s kitchen is a culinary dream come true, with granite and quartzite countertops, custom sapele cabinetry, professional-grade Thermador appliances, a wine and beverage cooler and a built-in ice maker.
The second-floor master suite features a coffee nook, deep soaking tub and spacious ocean-view lanai, while two additional bedroom suites provide plenty of space for guests or loved ones.
“We purchased the Laola Townhomes at Timbers Kauai when it was under construction in 2018 because it offered the perfect combination of island lifestyle, ocean views, resort amenities and dedicated staff to cater to our every need,” Johnson said.
Though it’s time to say goodbye, Johnson says he plans to cherish his memories of the place forever.
“I love watching the beautiful sunrises and moonrises from our balcony. During whale season, we watched the whales playing in the ocean as if they were in our backyard. I have so many wonderful memories experiencing all the amenities of the resort with my grandchildren and catching my first fish in the lagoon,” she added.
