The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season has been close all year long, and Sunday's Yellawood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway delivered another classic moment.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was battling for the lead with Brad Keselowski, William Byron and Kyle Larson on the final lap of overtime. As the pack moved into the frontstretch, Byron appeared to give Stenhouse the boost he needed to take the lead.

As the drivers approached the start-finish line, Byron tried to go three-wide, but was a little too slow. Stenhouse crossed the line in first place, followed by Keselowski and Byron.
“This team has put in a huge effort. Obviously they haven't won since the 500-meter race in 2023,” Stenhouse said later. NBC Sports. “It's been a season with a lot of ups and downs. It's been a lot of work just trying to get any speed up, but we knew this was the track we had to get to. So for all the people of southern Mississippi.” Thank you everyone for coming.

Stenhouse won by 0.006 seconds, according to NASCAR. Keselowski finished second and Byron third. Kyle Larson and Erik Jones rounded out the top five.
Christopher Bell, Justin Haley, Austin Dillon, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top 10. Chris Buescher won Stage 1 and Austin Cindric won Stage 2.
Byron and Larson finished in the top five, helping the team advance to the playoffs. Byron entered the race in first place, with Larson in third. Byron secured a spot in the Round of 8.
Bell's sixth-place finish also increases his chances of qualifying before the field is narrowed to eight players.

Cindric, Ryan Blaney, and Joey Logano were all involved in the wreck. Daniel Suarez also suffered machine trouble and finished 26th, while Chase Brisco finished 30th.
