NASCAR fans cheer as Trump arrives for Daytona 500 in Air Force One

President Donald Trump cheered from the crowds at Daytona International Speedway as he landed at the airport before he reached the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

The president's plane flew through the speedway before landing at Daytona International Airport. As the pre-race host spoke to Chase Elliott, cheers from the crowd were heard on Fox's broadcast. NASCAR fans and drivers saw the plane fly around the truck.

Trump issued a statement before landing at the airport. He will be the first seating president to participate in two Daytona 500 races at Daytona International Speedway. He first entered the race in February 2020.

“This iconic race presents the fastest and most fearless drivers in motorsports that represent our country's love of tradition, competition and automotive innovation,” the statement read . “The Daytona 500 brings together people from all life, from lifelong racing fans to first-time audiences. They all take part in celebrating a common passion for speed, adrenaline and the thrill of racing.

“From the engine roaring on the truck to the echoes of “star nauseating banners” jumping over the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength and fortitude that makes America great. . What fuels America's golden age, and if we use it, the future is truly ours. ”

Trump also thanked members of the US military for their service.

“From the beginning, NASCAR has conveyed a proud tradition of honoring heroic service members for unwavering courage,” the statement added. “Fans from all over the world today gather at Daytona International Speedway, and we have an endless appreciation to the selfless men and women in uniforms who risk their lives to keep us safe. The miles between our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, coast guards and guardians are ready to protect these precious traditions. To that end, we will I'm really grateful.

“Melania and I send our best wishes to a safe and successful race. May God bless our army and he continues to bless the United States of America.”
