Nashville police look into deadly accident with singer Conner Smith

Country artist Connor Smith was involved in a tragic incident on Sunday night in Nashville, where he struck and fatally injured a 77-year-old woman named Dorothy Bins while she was crossing the street. Smith, 24, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when the accident occurred near Third Avenue North and Van Buren Street around 7:30 PM.

Bins, who was a local resident, was reportedly crossing the street close to her home. After being struck, she was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she sadly passed away. Police stated that it appears Smith did not yield to pedestrians, which contributed to the accident.

While the investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed against Smith at this point. According to authorities, he showed no apparent signs of disability, and he was released after the incident. His legal representative acknowledged the accident, expressing sympathy for Bins’ family during this difficult time. Smith is fully cooperating with the investigation.

I mean, it’s just so tragic when something like this happens, and I can only imagine the pain involved for everyone affected. The accident took place on the final day of the CMA Fest, a major country music festival in Nashville, from which Smith had been sharing photos from his performance. However, he has not made any public statements regarding the crash.

Smith, originally from Nashville, gained recognition after signing with Valory Music Company in 2019. He described his passion for country music, stating how it has deeply influenced his life. Just last year, he married surfer Leah Thompson, which adds another layer of complexity to this already difficult situation.
