Nashville police have released haunting body camera footage that may have recorded the last time missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain was seen alive.
Strain was encountered by chance late on March 8 near the Cumberland River, where his bank card was later discovered.
The encounter began when Officer Reginald Young responded to a robbery call on Gay Street in Nashville at 9:50 p.m. There, a police officer was seen searching a row of parked cars as Strain, 22, passed him.
“How are you doing, sir?” Young asked the student.
“I’m fine, how are you doing,” Stalin replied as he stepped out of the frame.
“Good,” Young replied, returning to his police work.
Nashville police said Strain did not appear to be in distress during the interaction with Young, who remained at the scene for an additional 45 minutes.
Metro Police noted that so far, no other video exists showing Riley leaving Gay Street after 9:52 p.m.
The 6-foot-7 finance major was visiting Nashville with his Delta Chi fraternity brothers when he was arrested from country star Luke Bryan’s honky-tonk bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge, for being too drunk. It is said that he was kicked out.
Surveillance camera footage shows Strain moving down Gay Street towards First Avenue on the Cumberland River, but an extensive water search using boats, dogs and sonar has yet to locate him. There are no results.
However, after a search, police found Strain’s bank card on the river bank.
In an interview with Fox17 on Sunday, a homeless man said he saw Strain the night he disappeared, describing the student as “very, very drunk” and claiming he stumbled and nearly fell into the river.
Metro Nashville Police previously said they do not suspect any criminal activity at this time.
Strain’s parents claim the bartender “overserved” their son and maintains the bar is to blame, but Luke’s 32 Bridge did not sell alcoholic beverages at the bar while Strain was there. He said he was only offered one drink and two glasses of water.
