Nathan Wade’s phone at Fani Willis’ home 35 times before they say affair began: docs

According to a bombshell new court filing by Donald Trump’s lawyers in the Georgia election fraud case, Nathan Wade’s cell phone was stolen from the Fanny Willis area in the middle of the night in 2021, long before the two claimed to be a couple. It was traced to the prosecutor’s home.

According to hired investigator Charles Mittelstadt, Wade spent a “long period of time” between April 1, 2021 and November 30, 2021 near a condominium Willis was subletting from a friend in Hapeville, Georgia. It is said that he was there 35 times. By Trump’s team.

Many of those visits were before Wade was hired by Willis as special counsel in the Trump case in November 2021, and he claimed to have only been to the mansion 10 times before being hired. This appears to contradict last week’s court testimony. .

The two told the court that their relationship did not develop until the spring of 2022, and they broke up about a year later.

But Middelstadt, who analyzed a mountain of cell phone and location data, found that during the period leading up to Willis’ hiring of Wade, and also the month after Willis signed her firm’s first contract, she was sent a phone call in the middle of the night. Apparently he had visited the condo twice. She claimed the data was from Wade’s number.

On September 11, 2021, Wade’s cell phone was placed near his Hapeville condominium at 10:45 p.m. and remained there until the early hours of the next day, leaving at 3:28 a.m. and arriving at his home shortly after. Mr. Mittelstadt claimed in his affidavit:

Then, on Nov. 29, 2021, Mittelstadt claimed that Wade called Willis at 11:32 p.m., then arrived at the condominium area just after midnight and remained there until 4:05 a.m.

Investigators also claimed that, based on data collected, Wade and Willis made more than 2,000 voice calls to each other and exchanged just under 12,000 text messages over an 11-month period in 2021.

Mr. Trump and many of his co-defendants exonerated the embattled Fulton County, Georgia, DA’s office from the case and accused Mr. Willis of unfairly incriminating Mr. Wade (who they said was Mr. Wade’s boyfriend at the time). They are asking that the criminal charges against him based on the allegations that he was hired be dropped. and provided her with vacations to the Bahamas, Aruba, and Napa Valley, California, and benefited her financially from lucrative contracts with her agency.

They were forced to testify during a two-day hearing last week, in which they said they wouldn’t develop a romantic relationship until spring 2022, that they’d split the cost of their vacations and that they’d bought them on Wade’s credit. insisted. A card was issued and Willis repaid him in cash.

Donald Trump’s lawyers have hired investigators to analyze Wade’s cell phone data as they seek to disqualify Willis from the case and drop charges against Trump. AP

Wade and Willis also testified that they broke up in the summer of 2023, but remain close friends.

This information seems to suggest that Wade and Willis may have lied on the stand about when they started dating.

Keith Johnson, a Georgia-based defense attorney, told the Post that if today’s affidavit is correct, “it could lead to perjury charges.”

He added, “Affidavits filed by defense attorneys in this case indicate that there were several phone calls and text messages between the parties prior to Mr. Wade’s appointment as special prosecutor.” added.

“This directly contradicts the sworn testimony of Mr. Wade and Mr. Willis, who stated that they had a platonic relationship prior to their appointment.

“Whenever there is testimony that contradicts the oath, we must consider the intent of the parties and whether they knowingly made a false statement.”

Johnson noted that both Wade and Willis will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations in court.

Mittelstadt said he reached his conclusion by creating a geofence using the two cell phone towers closest to the Hapeville condos – 3,000 feet and 2,000 feet away from the condo’s address.

Trump’s lawyers are asking Judge Scott McAfee to include this information in his decision to disqualify Willis.

McAfee set closing arguments on the motion for March 1.

Robin Yearty, a friend to whom Willis sublet his Hapeville condo, testified that Willis and Wade had been having an affair since 2019.

However, during their cross-examination of Yearty, attorneys for the DA’s office said her testimony was not credible because she had an ax to grind with Willis after Yearty quit her job at the DA’s office on unfair terms. He seemed to suggest that it shouldn’t be done. She has since spoken to Willis.

The Fulton County Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
