Washington Nationals Outfielder Lane Thomas wasn’t the only one unhappy with second-year MLB umpire Emil Jimenez on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Thomas was ejected for the first time in his career in the sixth inning of the Nationals’ 7-2 loss. Detroit Tigers The team was ejected in the series finale on Thursday, but fans were outraged at the bizarre circumstances that led to the ejection.

With the count at 2-2, Thomas appeared to glance back at Jimenez, but the strike call was in doubt and he struck out.

Former MLB player and current Nationals announcer Kevin Fransen slammed the play-by-play commentary during Thursday’s broadcast.
“We literally have video and audio audio. He never said that. It’s just so awful. It makes me even more angry.”
“Emil Jimenez played poorly,” Fransen noted. “He called it a strike and said: [Thomas] “I said something in a bad way about him. Lane didn’t say that word. So he’s a liar.”

The Nationals’ five-game winning streak came to an end with Thursday’s loss. The ejection marked the first of Thomas’ career in the MLB and his 76th in the regular season.
