NBA closes investigation into Thunder’s Josh Giddey over underage relationship allegations: report

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the NBA has closed its investigation into Josh Giddey’s alleged relationship with an underage student.

Guidi, who was selected sixth overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2021 NBA Draft, was not charged after Newport Beach, California, police said in January they found no criminal activity.

“No charges have been filed against Josh Giddy. Our detectives have reviewed all available information regarding the allegations circulating on social media but have not been able to substantiate any criminal activity related to Giddy,” a Newport Beach Police spokesperson said in an email to Fox News Digital at the time.

ESPN reported the league dropped its investigation for the same reason.

Rumors that Guidi was dating an underage girl exploded on social media in November when videos and photos circulated, sparking police and the NBA investigations.

Many wondered what the Thunder would do, but head coach Mark Dainault decided to leave Guidi on the court based on the information the team had received. Guidi did not answer any questions about the situation.

Oklahoma City was the top seed in the Western Conference this season but lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
