Is something cooking here, or is this one fat nothingburger?
The NBA is planning on launching an investigation into the Philadelphia 76ers regarding how they’re handling their All-NBA center Joel Embiid and his player participation, according to a report Wednesday from ESPN. In the preseason, Embiid never suited up because of what the franchise is labeling as left knee injury management. The 30-year-old also didn’t play in the season-opening game Wednesday, with the 76ers suffering a 124-109 defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s also slated to miss two extra games to start out the campaign against the Toronto Raptors (Friday) and Indiana Pacers (Sunday).
The NBA normally has a review on an organization when their superstar doesn’t play in a game that’s nationally televised, which is a part of the player participation policy.

To answer the question earlier, this is one fat nothingburger.
Not only is this typical protocol from the NBA, but do you really think the league is gonna have a problem with the Sixers trying to preserve Embiid until we get to the playoffs? Do you really think they’re gonna have a problem with Embiid guaranteed to play in the postseason?
Nope.
