Vlade Divac Suffers Hip Injury in Motorcycle Accident
Former Sacramento Kings player Vlade Divac has experienced a serious accident, fracturing his hip after falling from a motorcycle in Montenegro. The incident occurred on Thursday along a road near the Adriatic coast, and after undergoing emergency surgery, doctors confirmed on Friday that he had received an artificial hip implant.
The 57-year-old Divac is currently reported to be in stable condition and is being monitored closely by medical staff, according to Lyubika Mitrovich, a hospital spokesperson in Lisan.
Divac, known for his successful NBA career, primarily played with the Kings but also spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Charlotte Hornets. In 2001, he earned League All-Star honors and went on to serve as the general manager for the Kings.
Joining the Lakers in 1989, Divac was among the first wave of European players to transition into the NBA. He made history as the first player born and raised outside the U.S. to participate in over 1,000 NBA games and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. Additionally, he has held the position of chairman for Serbia’s Olympic Committee from 2009 to 2017.
