John Wall was once at the top of the NBA, and he’s certainly experienced it in recent years.

Wall has appeared in just 147 games since signing a max contract worth $170 million ahead of the 2017-2018 season.

He has experienced a fair amount of injuries, including heel and Achilles tendon injuries, and was sidelined from December 26, 2018 until New Year’s Eve two years later.

During this time, Wall lost his mother and grandmother, which caused him to hit what is known as “rock bottom.”

Shortly after her mother passed away in 2019, Wall said she started taking her mental health seriously and began seeing a therapist, which she continues to do today.

However, his mental state was so poor that on two occasions he almost took his own life with a single finger.

“If it wasn’t for my two sons, I would have killed myself,” Wall said. Podcast “OGs” With former NBA players Udonis Haslem and Miles Miller. “I had a gun put to my head twice, but a lot of people who were close to me and my friends at the time didn’t know.”

That’s when he had an epiphany.

“I thought, ‘Man, if I take myself away from this earth, I won’t be able to raise my children. Who will be able to raise them?'” At the time, I was in the dark. I was trying to find happiness, so for me it was just trying to go out, party, have fun, just try to find something calming, and that wasn’t the right way. ”

“I still talk to my therapist,” he continued. “So if you feel like you’re in an uncomfortable place… go get help, it’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with that. I had to understand that, or I’m here today. You won’t be there.” ”

Wall remains a free agent. He last played on January 13 of last year for the Los Angeles Clippers.
