NBA reportedly discussing tournament-style All-Star Game

There seems to be no end to the quest to improve the NBA All-Star Game.

According to ESPN, the NBA is “in serious discussions” about the tournament format for February's NBA All-Star Game, which will be held in San Francisco, home of the Warriors.

According to the report, the format is such that the tournament will consist of three All-Star teams of eight players each, making up all 24 named NBA All-Stars, with the winner of the Rising Stars game becoming the fourth-place team. It shows that. .

Sources told ESPN that by Friday, NBA officials had discussed the new format with the league's competition committee, which is led by team governors, players, coaches, officials and union officials.

“We're looking at other formats,” commissioner Adam Silver said in early November, according to ESPN. “I think the players were definitely disappointed in last year's All-Star Game. We all want to do a better job of providing competition and entertainment for our fans.”

The All-Star Game has been the target of criticism in recent years for its lack of fielding and overall competitiveness, and last year's record-breaking effort heightened the criticism even further.

Last year, the Eastern Conference defeated the Western Conference 211-186.

East became the first team to score over 200 points in an All-Star Game, setting a conference record.

The NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for February 16th at Chase Center in San Francisco.
