NBA results: 76ers receive support from Justin Edwards in victory against Celtics

76ers’ Justin Edwards Shines Despite Mother’s Warning

In a recent game, Philadelphia 76ers forward Justin Edwards found himself in a bit of trouble with his mother after coming off the bench during the team’s narrow victory of 102-100.

Edwards displayed impressive skills, scoring 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting, which included 5-of-6 from three-point range, all within 27 minutes of play. Alongside his scoring, he contributed three rebounds, three assists, and one steal. His performance led the 76ers, just topping Tyrese Maxey’s 21 points. Andre Drummond also made an impact, adding 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

After the game, Edwards was asked about his reaction after hitting a crucial three-pointer that pushed the 76ers ahead with 4:43 left in the final quarter. He seemed to ponder for a moment, but then his mother chimed in, causing laughter among those present. “I know what he said. He’s going to get hit,” Ebony Twigs remarked, and Edwards blushed in response.

He added with a bemused smile, “Well, she knows,” and also mentioned he said, “Let’s take the plunge.” Interestingly, Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 24 points, but they couldn’t maintain an eight-point advantage with just six minutes to go.

Looking back, Edwards was picked up by the 76ers after going undrafted, despite a solid college career with the Kentucky Wildcats. During the previous season, he played in 44 games for Philadelphia, averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. This season, he’s appeared in nine games, averaging around 6 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.9 assists.

With this latest victory, the 76ers improved to a record of 7 wins and 4 losses, whereas the Celtics fell to 5-7.
